It is with great sadness… well, I’m not exact happy about it but that does over egg it a little, that I announce a breif hiatus on the blog. I will be moving house this week, and the new house won’t have internet until the end of the month. That combined with having a decent amount of decorating to do means that I probably won’t be posting much, if at all.

Big sorry to any one I said I would post an article for, track reviews, release news etc but time has run out and there is little I can do about it. I might get around to posting up some things but I can’t promise anything.

Making Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up"

So its one thing to know what all the samples are from but its totally another thing to know how to process them to get them sounding right. I really enjoyed watching this and found it quite inspiring. Shame I’m not in the lab right now or I would be cutting up guitar bits from stuff and processing them until I had something totally unusable, YEAH! Big shouts to Jim Pavlov who put this together.

Plain Audio 033 – Floka & Minutower by IJO (free tunes)

Another great release from Plain Audio, this time from IJO. There are 2 tracks called Floka and Minutower. I wondered what Neo-Jungle was when I read the press release but it turns out to basically be old skool with plenty of choppage.

It’s been pretty much three years since IJO honoured the Plainaudio catalogue with his Drill and Bass EP.
A lot happened in between. Not only did he live and work in London for over two years, gigged with Murcof, Plaid, Breakage or Ed Rush but also put out a record on his own (and with his own music obviously) and released electronic madness on various other netlabels like Envizagae and Resting Bell. Under his moniker 300 Degrees he branched out towards Techno and found a home at Canadian Napalm Enema Records.
Working in a London record shop obviously takes its toll: for his second installment on Plainaudio, IJO comes correct with two Neo-Jungle tunes we are now very happy to share with the public. Compared to his EP from 2006 both ‘Floka’ and ‘Minutower’ are rather tame beasts. However, it allows us to file this in our beloved Drum and Bass section and show, how versatile our man from Lithuania really is.

I have been really busy the last week dealing with my impending house ownership and haven’t posted in a while, or even really listened to a lot of music. In part celebration of reaching a certain mile stone I decided to chill a bit more to night and take a wonder round sound cloud.
